We believe that the trauma of birth can cause many common chronic
diseases.
The effects of a difficult pregnancy, a long hard labor, the use
of forceps/vacuum suction, a caesarian section, the umbilical cord
wrapped around the throat/body, and other traumas can impair the
function of the newborn’s brain and spinal cord.
The following fifteen pediatric conditions that we are involved
with span from the outer range of serious brain injury including
autism, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy, to less severe nervous system
diseases such as ADHD, strabismus, and reading (dyslexia) and speech
disorders, to the more common pediatric illnesses of asthma, earache,
colic, esophageal reflux, headache, rhinitis, neck ache, and scoliosis.
Today children with these diseases are falling through the cracks
of the health care system because of the lack of central nervous
system assessment at birth. Since prevention at birth is far superior
to treatment later in life, we are presenting the Brain Score as
a screening tool to measure neonatal neurophysiology.
Presently, birthing professionals perform the Apgar Score to check
the critical vital signs of the newborn. These professionals can
now augment this with the Brain Score by ensuring that the brain
and spinal cord are functioning effectively. If not, they can perform
craniosacral fascial therapy to mitigate the effects of birth trauma.
We also foresee the mother-to-be having craniosacral fascial therapy
before conception to ensure better hormonal function, less strain
in pregnancy, an easier birth, and better overall health for the
newborn.
